TPS54339DDAR is a DC-DC switching regulator designed to accommodate the needs of power systems and sub-systems in applications such as IAAS server, communication infrastructure, mobile device, PDAs, notebook computers, wireless LAN and single-board computers. The TPS54339DDAR has a wide array of features, including an adjustable switching frequency, an adjustable tight line regulation, adjustable remote sense and an adjustable output current limit. These features make it an ideal choice for applications where a tight regulation and an optimum power conversion is needed.

The TPS54339DDAR is a step-down switching converter featuring the advanced CMOS Enhanced Current Mode and Low Component Count (ECL) topology. It delivers high efficiency and closely regulated output voltage and current with a wide input voltage range of 2.5V to 15V. The TPS54339DDAR drives up to two external P-channel power MOSFETs for a low operating voltage start up and high output current level.

The TPS54339DDAR uses an internal, precision reference voltage to set the output voltage, while the current sense input sets the output current limit. Output accurate regulation is achieved without the need of an external loop compensation element. When the load current reaches the programmed maximum current limit, the TPS54339DDAR quickly enters into a current limit cycle. Protection features of the TPS54339DDAR include thermal shutdown, under voltage lockout and over voltage protection.

The TPS54339DDAR offers user programmability for a wide range of switching frequency, current limit, output voltage and remote sense settings. It supports PWM operation up to 2.2MHz, allowing the use of small external components as well as reducing overall system size, cost and noise. The TPS54339DDAR also provides improved dynamic performance and even supports light load efficiency.

The TPS54339DDAR simultaneously regulates the output voltage and current, while providing a low ripple output and fast response time over a wide load range. This allows systems to operate efficiently under cold start, hot start and heavy load conditions. The integrated peak current limit feature and external soft start input also reduce inrush current and output voltage overshoot.

The TPS54339DDAR operates over an extended junction temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, offering superior reliability and temperature performance in a very small QFN package as small as 3 mm x 3 mm x 0.9 mm. The device is rated for input voltage up to 18V, with output currents up to 8A, making it suitable for a wide range of design applications.
