TPS54427DRCR is a DC-DC switching regulator which belongs to the voltage regulator family of PMICs that are used to regulate voltages of a given device or circuit. It is designed to meet the needs of high-power, high-performance automotive applications such as head units, infotainment systems, driver assistance systems, instrument clusters and other in-car electronic systems.The TPS54427DRCR offers multiple operating points and load current capabilities from 10 volts to 65 volts and up to 35 amps. The switching regulator is composed of a high-side MOSFET and low-side MOSFET, allowing for better efficiency and better thermal performance. It offers adjustable voltage and current settings, variable switching frequency and a cycle-by-cycle current limit. Additionally, it features internal overcurrent, short-circuit and overvoltage protection.The switching regulator is designed to operate within the 3.3V to 5.5V input voltage range. The output voltage can be set between 5.5V and overvoltage protection (OVP) providing the user with a wide freedom of choice. The device supports a range of output currents up to 35 amps, and is also able to operate in burst mode to reduce power consumption when the load is low.The heart of the TPS54427DRCR is an internal control loop which ensures that the output voltage and current are adjusted to the desired values. An internal oscillator sets the desired switching frequency and an integrated gate driver supplies the gate signals for the power MOSFETs in the corresponding phase.In order to maintain optimum efficiency, the oscillator frequency is also optimized for each respective operating point automatically. Additionally, the TPS54427DRCR includes advanced protection features for: overcurrent, overvoltage and short-circuiting.The TPS54427DRCR could be used in a variety of automotive applications, such as head units, infotainment systems, driver assistance systems, instrument clusters and other in-car electronic systems. It could also be used in other high-power, high-performance applications such as robotics, automation and IoT control systems.Overall, the TPS54427DRCR provides an efficient, flexible and cost-effective switching voltage regulator platform. It features adjustable voltage and current settings, variable switching frequency and a cycle-by-cycle current limit, while being designed to operate within the 3.3V to 5.5V input voltage range.
