TPS54528DDA is a family of two or four phase, high current, fully integrated buck voltage regulators with integrated circuit and highly efficient power management. The device provides a wide range of outputs from 0.8V to 10V, with output current up to 20A. The device was originally designed for server and processor applications, however, due to its features and functions, it could be used for a variety of other applications in the DC-DC switching regulator areas. The TPS54528DDA is designed to reduce the number of external components needed to configure a DC-DC switching regulator, thus saving size and cost. It uses a highly efficient power management algorithm and a four-phase full bridge structure to get consistent high current performance. The full bridge-driver helps minimize output ripples and maximize efficiency. The TPS54528DDA can be used in server and processor power stages, FET and LDO scaling, load balancing on multiple outputs, pre-bias applications, asynchronous buck converter and uninterruptible power supplies. The device is also suitable for VoIP applications, low voltage processors, hard drives and satellite applications. The TPS54528DDA uses a continuous conduction mode (CCM) topology, allowing current to be continuously switched between two or four power stages. A constant ON time and ultra-fast output response enable high transient current demand. The operating frequency can be adjusted externally for better performance and efficiency. It also has a low power sleep mode for improved power efficiency. The TPS54528DDA offers protection features such as under-voltage lockout, over-temperature protection, cycle-by-cycle current limit, integrated power good signal and anti-corruption cycle. It also has dedicated pins for setting output voltages, current limit and reporting status. The device is offered in a thermally enhanced 10-lead LLP package. The TPS54528DDA is specifically designed for high current load and enables better performance, improved efficiency and simpler design compared to traditional buck regulator solutions.
