Working Principle

The TPS54673PWP is a synchronous buck voltage regulator IC with a pulse-width modulated (PWM) switch mode and a synchronous rectifier in the feedback loop. When the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the logic block inside the IC asserts the PWM signal that turns ON the N-channel FET to enable the power stage. During the ON state, the two FETs in the buck circuit are in series, connecting the Input and Output. When the switch is turned ON, the current flows from the Input to the Output. This current is transferred through the inductor and then stored in the output capacitor. Since the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the PWM will allow the switch to stay ON until the output voltage is equal to the reference voltage. At this point, the PWM signal is de-asserted and the switch is turned OFF. The inductor will transfer the remaining current to the output and the output voltage will remain constant at the reference voltage until the next switching cycle.
