1. Describe
The TPS55160QPWPTQ1 family of devices is a high voltage synchronous buck-boost DC-DC converter. The device provides a regulated power output from various input sources such as a car battery. Buck-boost overlap control ensures automatic transition between buck and boost modes with optimum efficiency. The TPS55165-Q1 output voltage can be set to a fixed level of 5V or 12V. The TPS55160QPWPTQ1 and TPS55162-Q1 devices have a configurable output voltage range of 5.7V to 9V, set by an external resistor divider. The output current can be as high as 1 A for normal car battery voltages, and remains at 0.4 A for lower input voltages such as common battery cranking curves. Buck-boost converters are based on fixed frequency, pulse width modulation (PWM) control circuits that use synchronous rectification for maximum efficiency. The switching frequency is set to 2 MHz (typ), allowing the use of small inductors that take up less board space.

The TPS55160QPWPTQ1 family of devices is a high-voltage synchronous buck-boost DC-DC converter that integrates all four power MOSFETs. Each device in this device family can produce a well-regulated output voltage from a widely varying input voltage source, such as a car battery. If the input voltage is higher than the output voltage, the TPS55160QPWPTQ1 device will operate in buck mode. If the input voltage is lower than the output voltage, the device operates in boost mode. If the input voltage is equal to or close to the output voltage, then The device operates between buck and boost modes. Buck-boost overlap control ensures automatic and smooth transitions between buck and boost (that's okay. Boost and Buck modes are mentioned on the first page of the spec) modes with optimum efficiency. The output voltage of the TPS55165-Q1 device can be set to a fixed level of 5V or 12V. The output voltage of the TPS55160QPWPTQ1 and TPS55162-Q1 devices can be programmed from 5.7V to 9V.
