TPS61194EVM is a 16-channel LED driver designed for automotive, automotive aftermarket, indoor and outdoor lighting and menu boards applications. The TPS61194EVM serves as an evaluation module which is intended to help design engineers develop applications with maximum efficiency and versatility in mind. The TPS61194EVM supports two input voltage ranges, 3.2 V to 20 V and 3.2 V to 34 V, and offers a powerful 1 A per channel constant-current sink and 2 A peak current source capability with a 1:4 current convergence ratio. With over-temperature protection, short-circuit protection, and out of phase protection, the TPS61194EVM can protect against system defects. The TPS61194EVM also has a comprehensive matrix configuration system which enables users to access full colour and hue mixing capabilities along with a user-friendly web-based graphical user interface (GUI) to control, program and monitor the TPS61194EVM.The TPS61194EVM uses an architecture which provides different operating modes like PWM direct, PWM frequency, PWM phase shift and combination of any of those operating modes. The PWM direct mode enables the PWM signal to directly drive the LED drivers, whereas the PWM frequency and phase shift mode are intended for use with TTL and CMOS logic signals. The combinational mode allows users to use various logical signals to control the LED drivers. This architecture ensures versatile driving capabilities and optimized conversion efficiency. The wide input voltage and powerful sink/source capability makes the TPS61194EVM capable of driving RGB LED and other LED combinations. Moreover, TPS61194EVM supports configurable ADC for current, temperature and auxilary inputs, which allows measurement and monitoring of LED forward currents and die temperature from a single point of access. The TPS61194EVM also has a flexible package capability and is available as a reference design, kit and evaluation board. Users can use the reference design to integrate the TPS61194EVM into a custom designed LED driver board, or can use the kit to develop their own board.
