It utilizes a switching N-Channel MOSFET (Q1) to step down the input voltage, while the source side of the MOSFET is connected to the output voltage. The output voltage is maintained at a constant level by the regulation loop of the device. An internal linear regulator (Q2) is utilized to prevent overshoot and improves the load transient response. The output voltage is adjusted through an external resistance connected to the FB (feedback) pin. Finally, the sensed voltage connected to the SENSE pin results in reverse current protection.
