The TPS77718PWPG4 consists of an enabled current-limited, adjustable linear regulator circuit, complemented by an internal thermal shutdown protection circuit, allowing the device to be employed without external current-limiting or over-temperature protection. It also provides an adjustable output voltage range of 0.65 V to 4.2 V, a 0.8 V dropout voltage, and a maximum output current of 3 A.The regulating element of the TPS77718PWPG4 LVR is made up of an N-MOSFET pass element and P-MOSFET and N-MOSFET pair connected in series between the input and output. The duty of the N-MOSFET is to limit the input current. The duty of the P-MOSFET and N-MOSFET pair is to set the output voltage. The P-MOSFET and N-MOSFET pair is also connected to the feedback pin of the LVR. The output voltage is set by adjusting the voltage at the feedback pin. The TPS77718PWPG4 also has an internally generated soft-start function with a maximum charging time of 2 ms, allowing the device to start up without overloading the input compartment. The soft-start sequence begins when the device is enabled. After the pre-set soft-start time expires, the device runs in normal mode. For protection against over-temperature, the TPS77718PWPG4 has an internal over-temperature protection circuit.
