The TPS79733EVM evaluation board features a step-down linear voltage regulator. This board has been designed for use in applications where precision output voltage regulation is needed. The TPS79733EVM voltage regulator board is a platform suitable for testing and evaluation of wide range of voltage supply circuits. It is a fully assembled and comprises of various features which allows engineers to evaluate different TPS79733EVM step-down regulator features.
The TPS79733EVM represents a high performance, low quiescent current fold-back (QCFB) stage-down linear regulator with excellent load and line transient performance specifications. This device is designed to provide a precision output voltage regulation from input voltages ranging from 2.5V to 6V, and is capable of sourcing up to 200mA at a regulated output voltage. It comes in 6-lead TSOT-23 and 8-lead WL-CSP packages.
The TPS79733EVM evaluation board has a two stage architecture that includes an advanced foldback and a low dropout regulators. The first stage is an advanced foldback architecture that uses a single P-channel MOSFET device. This architecture provides improved efficiency under maximum load conditions. The second stage is a low dropout linear regulator providing very low quiescent current consumption. Overall, the device provides excellent transient response and ultra-low input/output voltage difference.
The TPS79733EVM is designed to supply an adjustable output voltage of up to 5V with a minimum of 200mA of output current. The board includes five external components: Resistor R3, Capacitors C1 and C2, Inductor L1 and Diode D1. This circuit utilizes an internal cycle-by-cycle current limit that is set by the external components. The AFB control circuit provides best-in-class output voltage stability and line/load transients.
In addition, the board is designed to perform a soft start during power up. This feature eliminates inrush current during initial startup and allows the regulator to track the input voltage in an optimal manner. Moreover, the board features a programmable over-current protection circuit and a temperature protection circuit. Both these circuits are designed to protect the IC from unexpected power surges.
The TPS79733EVM board is designed for use in a wide-range of applications in which constant, precise output voltage regulation is required. These applications include digital audio systems, digital post-processing and high-speed digital signal processing, telecom, data communication and automotive systems.
