It provides excellent load and line regulation, is stable over a wide range of input and output voltages, and has an enable pin to activate the regulator.The device offers very low dropout voltage (200 mV typ) over a wide range of input voltages from 1.8 V to 5.5 V. It features logic-level enable input, adjustable output voltage, and thermal limit protection.TPS78228QDRVRQ1 is designed for applications such as portable personal electronics equipment, point-of-load converters, and communications equipment. The device features a low-dropout design, which means that it can maintain regulation at a very low input voltage. The device is enabled by an active-low enable input. When the enable input is pulled low, the output regulator is turned on and the output voltage is regulated by an external resistor divider, which sets the output voltage. For improved noise immunity and rejection of transients, the enable pin is pulled up to the input voltage through an external resistor. The device features a thermal shutdown function that limits the maximum junction temperature. The output regulator will remain disabled until the junction temperature has cooled off and the thermal shutdown circuitry is reset.
