Working Principle

TPS81256SIPR utilizes the burst mode control scheme. This scheme operates in two different modes depending on the input voltage and the output current. The normal operating mode occurs when the output current is higher than the current threshold. In this mode, the TPS81256SIPR runs in pulse frequency modulation (PFM) and a built-in loop regulates the output voltage. During a short period of time, the TPS81256SIPR turns off the switch and no output current is produced. This period is known as the “burst mode.” This helps to reduce switching losses and improves efficiency.
