The TPSMB68CA protects against both of these applications.The working principle of the TPSMB68CA is fairly simple. It is composed of two p-n junction diodes connected in parallel. During normal operation, the voltage across the device is low and the diode operates in forward-bias, allowing electricity to flow in either direction. However, when the voltage across the device becomes too high, the diode begins to avalanche or breakdown. This electrically shorts out the voltage, thus limiting it and thereby protecting the circuit. The TPSMB68CA can handle a wide range of transient voltages before the diode reaches breakdown.In addition, the TPSMB68CA features a temperature independent response, which allows it to remain stable over temperature ranges and environment conditions.
