Working Principle

Tantalum capacitors are constructed using highly purified tantalum powder impregnated with a manganese dioxide or organic polymer dielectric material. This dielectric material is electrically connected with tinned leads or a wire bond to the end caps of the capacitor. In operation, the tantalum capacitor charges up as current passes through it. Its capacitance increases until it reaches its maximum charge.
