Texas Instruments offers the TRF37A75EVM Evaluation Module, an easy-to-use, low-cost, and versatile RF evaluation and development platform for smart antenna applications. The RF board features a 50 Ohm matched input on the receive port and a 50 Ohm matched output on the transmit port. The board is composed of a TAS5624E, a 6 GHz 75 ohm quadrature low noise amplifier (LNA), a TRF37A75, an integrated 5-6 GHz 75 ohm low noise amplifier (LNA) with power detector and digital outputs, and a TAS5664EH, a 2 GHz 48 dBmm receiver chain front-end. The TRF37A75 also includes a wideband power detector with a wide dynamic range and two digital outputs. The TRF37A75EVM is capable of measuring up to 62 dBm without needing an external amplifier.
The board features integrated on-board shift registers, power control circuitry, dual voltage regulator for RF supply, bi-directional LVDS differential inputs, and I2C interface. The EVM can be powered by a single 5V/2A supply and utilizes a standard 50-ohm RF cable for transmit and receive connections. The board also allows monitoring and control of the LNA gain remotely over I2C.
The TRF37A75EVM supports both synchronous and asynchronous communications, allowing for direct measurement of total harmonic distortion (TDD) and adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR). The board also features auto-calibration stop of out-of-band emissions and can display an accurate total peak/average RF signal power output. This results in an accurate and consistent signal output power level and better overall signal fidelity.
