TUSB319EVM is a comprehensive, easy to use, Light-emitting Diode (LED) driver solution, that enables designers to quickly evaluate and implement highly efficient power in cost-sensitive applications, such as household appliances, automotive and industrial applications. The TUSB319EVM offers both reference design and development platform for LED drivers in low-voltage power supply systems.
TUSB319EVM is an evaluation module (EVM) board, which incorporates Texas Instruments’ TUSB319 LED driver. This device is a voltage mode constant current (CC LED driver for driving up to four LEDs in parallel. It is suitable for low current, low voltage LED applications with high efficiency. The module also provides the flexibility to set the LED forward current up to 45mA, while consuming only 1 μA of quiescent current.
The TUSB319EVM board serves as an excellent platform for evaluating and demonstrating the TUSB319 LED driver. It has four channels for LEDs and a push-button switch to select the desired LED forward current or the brightness level. Each LED channel can be driven independently with separate LED brightness control. The TUSB319EVM board can be powered by either a 5V external power supply or USB power.
The TUSB319EVM evaluation board is based on the TUSB319 LED driver. The TUSB319 is a voltage mode LED driver designed for driving up to four LEDs connected in parallel. It provides constant current operation and features adjustable LED brightness. The device integrates three components: a low side P-channel MOSFET, a high side N-channel MOSFET, and a current sense amplifier. The combination of these three components provides a low on-resistance and a high current-sense accuracy in a small package.
The TUSB319 device has very low operating power consumption only 1 μA, which makes it suitable for battery powered applications. It is designed for 3 V to 5.5 V supply voltages and can drive LEDs with up to 45mA of forward current. The device is protected from undervoltage lockout through the VDD pin.
The TUSB319EVM board has four separate and independent LED channels. On the evaluated board, the LEDs are arranged in two rows of two LEDs in parallel. The four LEDs can each be driven by its own separate current source. The LEDs can be powered from either a USB connector or a 5V wall-wart power supply. The TUSB319EVM board is also equipped with a push-button switch to adjust the LED forward current. The push-button switch is connected to the EN pin of the device.
The user can use the push-button switch to select the LED forward current. The LED forward current can be set in the range of 5 mA to 45 mA. The user can also select the LED brightness level with the same push-button switch. In order to select the brightness level, the user should press the push-button switch multiple times until the desired brightness is reached.
The TUSB319EVM evaluation board is an easy to use, highly efficient, and cost-effective platform for testing and evaluating the TUSB319 LED driver. The evaluation board enables users to quickly test and evaluate the device for use in a wide range of low-voltage applications.
