Diodes are among the most commonly used electrical components, particularly in rectifiers and power conversion circuits. Their basic function is to allow current to flow in one direction and block current from flowing in the opposite direction. The term “rectifier” comes from the semiconductor device’s ability to convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Rectifiers are used in power supplies, DC power inverters, AC and DC filament transformers and virtually all consumer electronics.
Arrays are the latest development in diode technology. They are made up of multiple elements connected in series and/or parallel, which are designed to be used in a variety of electronic components and circuits. A diode array is typically used as part of a voltage regulator, voltage converter, or switch-mode power supply. They are also used in combo circuits as part of power supply correction, power connectors, and other applications.
The U20CCT-E3/4W is a diode array that consists of four P-Channel MOSFETs connected in parallel (or series, depending on the application). The maximum continuous current rating is 1A and the maximum reverse voltage rating is 200V. One of the key advantages of the U20CCT-E3/4W is that it is capable of extremely high surge current capacity. It is ideal for high power converters, such as LED products, as it is capable of very high amplitude pulses.
The main application of the U20CCT-E3/4W is in high speed power MOSFETs (such as IGBTs) and switching devices. It is used in these applications because it has a very low “on-state” voltage drop and therefore can switch quickly. Additionally, its maximum voltage rating of 200V allows it to be used in a wide range of AC/DC power supplies.
The primary purpose of the U20CCT-E3/4W is to rectify AC current and convert it to DC. It works by using a controlled voltage bias between a pair of high-efficiency Schottky diodes. The Schottky rectifier allows only unidirectional current flow and blocks the opposite current direction. This creates a DC voltage by removing the alternating current waveform across the diode.
The U20CCT-E3/4W is an ideal device for use in high power switching and power MOSFET applications because it can provide fast switching speeds, low on-state voltage drops and a high surge current capacity which is important in these applications. Its ability to convert AC to DC and its ability to withstand high voltage ratings make it an ideal rectifier for many applications.
