UC3176QPTR Application Field and Working Principle

Working Principle
UC3176QPTR performs its job using two main components, an input differential pair and an output differential pair. The amplifier’s input stage is of the cascoded type, with very low input bias current and high CMRR. The output pair is of the source-follower type, with the gate voltage of the output FETs controlled by a third stage of a cascoded differential amplifier. The amplifier is designed with very low output impedance, low total harmonic distortion and excellent common-mode rejection ratio.
The input-pair is biased by a current-mirror, providing good linearity and low input-offset voltage. The gain of this stage is also well maintained by the fact that the current-mirror establishes a stable reference current, while the output-voltage-swing is maintained by the current-mirror at a temperature-stable selected value. Hence, the bandwidth of the amplifier is improved by increasing the current values in the two output stages.
The output stage of the amplifier is cross-coupled to support high current-mirror and to provide a very low output impedance which helps maintain the gain and performance even when driving high capacitive loads. The current mirrors are used to bias the output stages and establish a temperature independent output-voltage-swing. This design provides for very good output-swing characteristics and very good temperature stability.
