The UCC281DP-ADJ is an adjustable three-terminal low-dropout linear voltage regulator that offers excellent line and load regulation. It is designed to reduce the power supply noise, output voltage drift and overall ripple. In addition, the output voltage of the UCC281DP-ADJ is adjustable between 1.25V and 15V by a single external resistor.

Working Principle of UCC281DP-ADJ

The UCC281DP-ADJ is an adjustable three-terminal low-dropout linear voltage regulator that offers excellent line and load regulation. It consists of an internal circuit comprising a precision bandgap reference, a first-order error amplifier, a current limit circuit, a voltage-feedback loop, an active-load, and a temperature sensing transistor. The regulator is designed to reduce power supply noise, output voltage drift, and overall ripple.

When the voltage at the control terminal (V1) exceeds the bandgap reference voltage (VBG), the error amplifier output stage turns on and the output voltage begins to regulate. The current limit circuit limits the output current, and the active-load circuit reduces output voltage drop when the output current exceeds the inrush current limit. The temperature sensing transistor detects the die temperature, and the voltage-feedback loop helps maintain a constant output voltage in the presence of line and load changes.

The output voltage (VOUT) of the UCC281DP-ADJ can be varied from 1.25V to 15V by a single external resistor (RADJ). The output voltage is regulated by varying the voltage at the control terminal (V1). The positive end of the RADJ must be connected to the terminal V1. The negative end of the RADJ is connected to ground. A higher RADJ value produces a higher voltage, while a lower RADJ value produces a lower voltage.
