The UCC2946DTR, ultra-low power supervisor, is a high-performance device, used to monitor and control various power-related conditions in battery-powered and portable applications. This component consist of a supervisor and a set of fault-protection circuitries.

The UCC2946DTR is capable of monitoring multiple supply levels and providing reset signals. It is equipped with three dedicated inputs, specifically designed to detect multiple supply conditions (that is, under/over voltage and brown-out) associated with system power domain(s). Each of these active-low inputs can monitor separate supplies, from 1.2V to 5.5V. This supervisor is also equipped with a reset pin, which is actively driven low by the device whenever a fault condition develops on any of the three dedicated inputs.

In addition to the three main input lines, the UCC2946DTR also features two user-selectable supply ok pins. These two pins are active-high, open drain outputs that indicate the status of the supply. Specifically, whenever all of the three main input lines are within their predefined regions, they drive the supply ok lines with a logic high signal. As soon as any of the input lines crosses its threshold, the supply ok pin asserts and signals that a fault is present.

The UCC2946DTR is capable of providing protection against various other fault conditions. These devices have built-in brown-out monitor which initiates a reset signal during brown-out conditions. The brown-out detection level can be programmed manually by connecting an external resistor divider. The device also has protection against either short-to-ground or short-to-VBAT condition, triggered by both over-current and over-temperature events. The UCC2946DTR supports two external vital reset transistor lines, which can be utilized to ensure system power is properly enabled/disabled in response to a fault detection.

The UCC2946DTR is intended for use in single and multi-rail designs, sports a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C and requires a single 3V to 5.5V supply. The device features a low standby current of only 0.4μA, which makes the UCC2946DTR an ideal choice for battery-powered, energy conscious designs. This component also comes with a diagnostic indicator and an optional watchdog timer.

Overall, the UCC2946DTR provides an efficient, low-power solution for managing various power related conditions in portable, low-power and multi-rail battery-powered applications.
