The UCD9224EVM-464 is an inexpensive evaluation board for a single-channel, high frequency AC/DC power supply with a peak output current rating of up to 464 watts. It offers a versatile platform for studying and evaluating a wide variety of off-line AC/DC power converter topologies and applications such as mobile adapter charger, LED driver, notebook adapter, etc.This evaluation board is also ideal for evaluating the performance of power conversion systems using switch-mode power supplies (SMPS). It features an upward boost converter, Synchronous rectification (SR) output converter, an integrated current sense and fault reporting circuit identical to the features of UCD9224 isolated power supply controllers.The peak output current of the UCD9224EVM-464 is up to 464W, and the maximum output power is 960 Watts with an input voltage range of 90~305 VAC and an output voltage of 12~55 VDC. The evaluation board comes with a full set of integrated power components, including an input rectifier diode bridge, an output MOSFET, current sense resistor, Star Delta high frequency transformer, gate driver and feedback circuitry. There is also a u-blox EVAL GNSS receiver to enable precise measurements in active navigation systems, as well as a real-time clock module to support time-critical operations.Working principle of the UCD9224EVM-464:The UCD9224EVN-464 evaluation board is an isolated DC/DC, AC/DC power supply with a single-channel rated Peak Output Current up to 464 watts. It employs an upwardBoost converter and a synchronous rectifier (SR) output converter.The Boost converter uses a high frequency transformer for energy transfer from the input to the output. The two coupled windings of the transformer create a voltage which is much higher than the input voltage, which is then converted to a lower output voltage with the help of the SR output converter. An integrated current sense and fault reporting circuit enables the controller to accurately sense the output current of the device and protect the power system from over-current conditions.The UCD9224EVM-464 is designed to be used for evaluating the performance of AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems with switch-mode power supplies.
