Application Field

Working Principle

The UES706 diode, as a dual common cathode diode, provides a low forward voltage drop and ultra-fast switching. Each rectifier consists of an Anode, Cathode, and a body PN junction. The Anode is, in essence, the positive terminal, while the Cathode is the negative terminal. A common Cathode is responsible for the dual-diode behavior of the UES706. When a current is applied to the diode, it ideally allows only current to flow in one direction. The PN Junction is responsible for the performance of the diode. It acts as a switch and allows the current to flow in one direction only. When the PN Junction is reversed, the current flow stops.

Under reverse-bias, the UES706 follows the standard diode equation, which states that the voltage across the Diode is a function of the current flowing through it and the temperature. When a reverse bias voltage is applied, the PN Junction acts somewhat like a vacuum and prevents any current from flowing until the applied voltage is strong enough to break the junction, which is called the breakdown voltage. Once the breakdown voltage is reached, significant current will flow through the Diode.
