UG56GHB0G is a 1200V, 4A rectifier with a rectangular base plate. It is a fast recovery rectifier ideal for high efficiency power supplies and frequency converters. UG56GHB0G is available in the market in the form of different packages such as TO-220, TO-3DAA and TO-3PAA and is designed for current surge protection.

Working Principle
The UG56GHB0G rectifier diode works on the principle of forward bias and reverse bias of p-type and n-type materials respectively. When the positive voltage source, the anode is applied with a positive voltage, the electrons which are negatively charged start to move towards the positive direction. These positive charges accumulate on the n-type material\'s negative terminal and create a depleted region of electrons and holes in the n-type material. The depletion region widens and creates a region of high resistance which resists the flow of current.
When the anode is applied a negative voltage, the holes move towards the negative terminal and the accumulation of these holes creates a depletion layer again. Similarly resistance is the result and the current stops flowing.
With these two effects of applying a positive or negative voltage, a rectifier is able to mange the AC waveforms to a certain extent by converting it into a DC waveform.
