Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits are designed to help engineers determine the performance and capabilities of the latest and greatest components. UPC3221GV-EVAL is a new Evaluation board from NXP providing complete control solutions for industrial and commercial grade motors. It is designed to bring advanced control algorithms to industrial applications. It can be used to control three phase brushless or brush DC-motors as well as three phase AC-induction motors, bridge-tied loads and high current power supplies. This Evaluation Board also includes several features designed to simplify testing and evaluation with embedded software for different control strategies.
The UPC3221GV-EVAL is powered by a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 core and is an open-source development platform. It integrates all the necessary fitings for a motor control application and consists of three main components: a high current MOSFET power stage, a dedicated motor control sense amplifier, and a high-performance field-oriented control (FOC) motor control algorithm for accurate motor control. This Evaluation Board enables users to experiment with many performance parameters such as speed, torque, position, current, and more. The Board is also equipped with a powerful power stage capable of delivering high current. This allows it to be used for high power applications such as pumping or rotating heavy loads. Additionally, the Evaluation Board features a wide range of analog and digital input and output (I/O) interfaces, making it a great fit for a wide range of industrial applications.
The Evaluation Board also includes a comprehensive suite of embedded software algorithms and libraries that allow users to quickly evaluate and evaluate different control strategies. The software includes algorithms and libraries for finite element analysis, efficient motor control and real-time diagnostics as well as a comprehensive laboratory-quality suite of signal processing blocks. The algorithms are designed to provide performance to the highest accuracy and optimize power efficiency. Additionally, embedded instruction sets help users quickly understand the operation and design of the system and extract the maximum performance.
The UPC3221GV-EVAL Evaluation Board offers users an open-source platform and a wide range of development tools to get started.
