UPPWH1 is a versatile, low-cost, resonant, piezoelectric vibration sensor from US Sensors. It is the world\'s first economical accelerometer for measuring vibration on rotating and vibrating machines. Its unique design combines two different types of sensing elements to create a single integrated package. The combination of two sensors enhances the sensitivity, accuracy and robustness of the system. Moreover, the UPPWH1 is a self-contained package, requiring no complicated wiring or additional components.

The UPPWH1 operates in the resonance region of the Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) where the vibrational response of the element is the most sensitive and accurate. It provides up to 3 measurement channels (Axial, Transverse and Rotational). The measurement range is adjustable using the integrated full-scale range selector. The UPPWH1 is composed of two piezo elements: one kinetic element (KE) and one piezo-resistive (PR) element.

The KE element converts mechanical excitation into an electrical signal. It is composed of a piezoelectric quartz crystal, which senses the vibrational excitation of the resonating body and converts it into a voltage signal. The frequency of the signal is proportional to the frequency of the vibration. The PR element monitors changes in capacitance due to the mechanical vibrations, converting them into an electrical signal.

The UPPWH1 is a self-contained sensing device, requiring no external components. It has a full-scale sensitivity range from 0-200 kHz, a power consumption of 2W and can handle temperatures from -20 to 85° C.

The UPPWH1 is ideal for industrial applications such as structural health monitoring, noise detection and vibration analysis, as well as precision control of vibrating machinery.
