Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVSs) are electrically compounded structures, usually based on Silicon or Zener diodes, and designed to protect sensitive electronic components and systems from voltage surges and transients caused by lightning, inductive switch and load switching. TVSs were developed to provide superior protection and perform successfully under harsh operational conditions. USBULC6-2F4 is one of the widely used and reliable products belonging to this family.

The USBULC6-2F4 is an integrated component with an ultra-low capacitance TVS diode array (UL6-2F4). The diode array is designed in a bi-directional “ESD-safe” configuration for protecting data lines from Electro Static Discharge (ESD) and other voltage transients. It is housed in a small 6-pin miniature Unidirectional Low Capacitance (ULC) surface mount package and offers a capacitance of just 0.55 pF typical between two I/O pins. The USBULC6-2F4 is an ideal device to protect new and upgraded High Speed Data Lines.

The design of USBULC6-2F4 allows EMI protection for noisy environments that are present in today’s multimedia applications. It provides ESD protection up to 15kV air discharge or 8kV contact discharge (Human Body Model) for data lines. The product also features a clamping voltage of approximately 8V. This enables the USBUL6-2F4 to withstand high line-to-ground transient voltage spikes without breakdown.

The USBULC6-2F4\'s structure work on the same principle as other TVS devices that provide device protection.
