Varistors (also called Voltage Dependent Resistors-VDRs) are semiconductor devices with unique voltage dependent characteristics and they are widely used in today\'s power electronic systems. V05P23P Varistors, Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) in particular, can be applied to many fields such as surge protection, lightning protection, power quality improvement, and energy distribution.

Surge protection is one of the key application fields for V05P23P MOV. In the power electronic systems, MOVs provide overload or overvoltage protection by redirecting hazardous voltages away from critical components. A MOV is typically connected between a power line terminal and ground. MOVs have a very high resistance between the two terminals when at normal voltage conditions. However, if the voltage between line and ground exceeds a certain value, the MOV will begin to conduct current, providing protection against overvoltage or surge.
