TVS - Varistors, MOVs are widely used for protecting circuits or equipment from static voltages and transients in electronic circuits. The V0603MHS12NA is a S0603 (2.1mm×1.6mm) surface mounted device voltage suppressor from Vishay. It is a monolithic sand-tailed type varistor product designed to protect circuits from ESD, EFT, inductive cross-talk, lightning and other transient voltages.

It is built by depositing semiconductor material on two electrodes, which creates a capacitor-type of connection with one capacitor connected in parallel with another. The V0603MHS12NA is designed to have the proper clamping ratio to offer overvoltage protection from transient (surges/spikes) voltages.
