Working principle of V10P35P

This blocks any further voltage increases from the MOV. When the surge voltage is gone, the thyristor will reset itself, preventing the circuit from permanent damage.
The bistable mode of operation should be considered when selecting the proper device. For applications requiring tighter tolerance, the monostable type is preferred. The monostable devices should be chosen for higher than rated voltages or larger transients.
