TVS - Varistors, MOVs, is a technology used to protect against surges, spikes, and other transients. The V14P175P is a 14mm disc ceramic varistor, designed to provide advanced protection for medium and high power applications such as industrial and switch mode power supplies, motor control systems, and critical automotive and automotive audio systems.The V14P175P consists of a combination of varistors and MOVs, and its design is based on both technologies. Varistors are temperature-compensated and solid-state protector devices that work by controlling voltage spikes. They are able to quickly clamp and absorb spikes of up to 175V peak, providing flexibility for different power levels. On the other hand, MOVs are non-linear resistor components that limit the voltage received during short-circuit or surge situations.Varistors are temperature-dependent semiconductor devices. They are designed to conduct current if and when the surge paths voltage exceeds a certain threshold value. As the voltage increases, the varistor draws the surge current away from the protected circuit components. When the surge is gone, the varistor instantaneously turns off by itself and returns back to its low-resistance state. MOVs, on the other hand, are dependent on temperature, voltage, and pressure. They are designed to shunt the current away when the voltage on the protected circuit exceeds a certain amount. The MOV responds to changes in voltage by providing a path for the current to flow away from the protected load. As soon as the surge or voltage spike passes, the MOV returns back to its normal low-resistance state, allowing the protective circuit to operate as normal again. The V14P175P is designed to provide protection against both over-voltage and over-current conditions. It is designed with a combination of both varistors and MOVs, and is able to handle up to 175V peak. The V14P175P is a reliable and efficient protection device, designed to protect medium and high power applications such as industrial and switch mode power supplies, motor control systems, and critical automotive and automotive audio systems.
