Varistors, MOVs, and other Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) devices provide protection for loads and components in circuits from transient voltage disturbances. The V30MLA1210H is a 1200V transient voltage grounding device, also known as a crowbar, which provides clamping of voltage transients, suppressing their amplitude.
Description
The V30MLA1210H is a 1200V transient voltage surge suppressor, or crowbar. It is an active over-voltage protection device, with a thermal disconnect circuit that isolates abnormal voltage once it reaches a critical level. The device offers fast response times due to its advanced circuitry, and has an integral high-current switch that immediately shorts the voltage as soon as it is detected. The V30MLA1210H also provides integrated thermal protection, thanks to its thermal disconnect mechanism that is triggered when the device’s internal temperature exceeds the defined temperature limit.Applications
The V30MLA1210H is typically used in applications in which transient voltages need to be monitored. Common applications for this device include electric motors, power supplies, wind turbines, solar power systems, and communications systems. The device is also used in the aviation industry for lightning protection of aircraft avionics.Working Principle
The V30MLA1210H employs a two-stage approach to transient voltage protection. The first stage is an over-current detection circuit that detects abnormal voltages above a pre-defined threshold.
