The electric field causes minority carriers to move from P type to N type region, then forming a low-resistance path and enabling current conduction. Since forward voltage is close to zero and there are no thermally generated majority carriers at the PN junction, the diode behaves like a resistor.When reverse biased, current flows from the N type to the P type region, creating a depletion region that opposes the applied reverse voltage. There is no current flow and the diode acts like an open circuit. In comparison, general diodes contain a barrier layer in the PN junction, the resistance is greater, resulting in higher reverse current leakage.Therefore, the V40150CM3/4W is highly suitable for high frequency applications due to its fast turn-on time and low forward voltage drop, low power consumption, and the fact that it is effective in eliminating power loss. It can be used in both AC/DC and DC/DC converter applications to provide waveform rectification and conversion of one AC waveform to another waveform. Besides its use as a rectifier in power supplies, this type of Schottky diode has also been applied to a variety of clocking and switching applications.
