Varistors, also known as voltage-dependent resistors, are semiconductor devices intended to provide non-linear electrical characteristics in circuits. The MOV has two components, namely a metal oxide layer and electrodes. The metal oxide layer is usually made up of zinc oxide, and the electrodes can be made of any metal. In operation, when an overvoltage is applied to the MOV, it shorts the metal oxide layer, creating a short-circuit across the two electrodes and allowing excess current to be safely diverted.The VE17P05750K is a type of MOV which is specifically designed for power supply, automotive, and industrial applications.
