VN02HSPTR-E is a power distribution switch, load driver, and is used to deliver regulated power to the chip. In operation, the VN02HSPTR-E uses two integrated power MOSFETs to provide power to the load. The two MOSFETs are connected in parallel and provide DC to DC conversion and voltage regulation. In continuous mode, both MOSFETs are kept ON and the load is supplied with a constant voltage. The input voltage to the VN02HSPTR-E can be varied over a wide range. In burst mode, the two MOSFETs are kept OFF and the load is supplied with a alternating voltage. This alternating voltage reduces the power dissipation while maintaining the output voltage within a certain tolerance.
The VN02HSPTR-E can operate at a maximum switching frequency of 1MHz. It is protected from over-current, over-voltage and short circuit by an over-current and over-voltage protection circuit. Short-circuit protection is provided by an integrated current-limit protection circuit. The device also provides current-limit for MOSFETs to protect against hot switching.
