PTC Resettable Fuses

PTC resettable fuses, also called polyfuses, are special types of fuses that allow the circuit to be reset after it has tripped. The VTP200ULF\'s working principle is based on a closed-circuit reed switch and includes the mounting of two identical susceptors. By pushing the pedal, the switch is triggered and the current flows into the associated device. The temperature of the susceptors rises, causing them to expand with time. When the susceptors eventually heat up and expand enough, they break the switch, thus interrupting the current flow. Because of the closed-circuit reed switch, the VTP200ULF can be reset simply by squeezing the pedal and allowing the current to flow back. When reset, the VTP200ULF immediately returns to its original, closed position. This action allows for safe operation in circuits that require overcurrent protection such as automotive and general household circuits. Another benefit of the VTP200ULF is its wide temperature range. The fuse is suitable for use in operating temperatures from -40°C to +100°C, withstanding up to 120°C for short-term overloads.
