Snap action, limit switches, such as the WLD28-LDS, are electrical switches that open and close an electric circuit, or turn an appliance or machine on and off. These switches are frequently used to detect the open/close position of doors, limit travel on automated systems and adjust the temperature of machines or components.The WLD28-LDS is a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switch specially designed to activate in a wide range of temperature, pressure and force applications. The type of SPDT switch used determines the level of temperature, pressure or force required to activate it. The WLD28-LDS activates at 50°C and operates at up to 100°C. This range of temperature applications allows it to be used in a range of applications, such as industrial water heaters and air compressors, as well as in other industrial equipment.The WLD28-LDS has a simple design consisting of a stator, or piston, and a pair of contact wires called actuators. The actuating force required to open or close the switch is determined by the size of the stator relative to the actuators. In the WLD28-LDS, the actuating force of the stator is adjustable from 6 to 65 pounds. When the actuating force is applied, the contacts are moved by the spring force of the stator, causing the switch to open or close.In applications where a switch must be activated by a certain temperature, the WLD28-LDS can be equipped with a thermo-sensitive bimetal disc that is heated to expand, activating the switch when it reaches the specified temperature. Similarly, in pressure and force applications, a pressure sensor or a force-sensing element can be used to activate the switch when the desired level of pressure or force is detected.The WLD28-LDS is an ideal limit switch for applications where the switch must activate at a wide range of temperatures, pressures or forces. Its simple design and adjustable actuating force makes it a versatile and reliable switch for a variety of industrial applications.
