Wireless Mesh Protocol 1 (WMP1) is an interoperable protocol defined by the IETF RFC Application Field Working Group, which is specifically designed for low-power and low-cost wireless mesh networks (WMPNs). WMP1 is based upon the Spider Mesh Protocol (SMP), which was developed by the Cognitive Radio Working Group to provide a low-cost, low-power, reliable and self-organizing wireless mesh network.
