Rocker switches have a mechanical action that is typically on/off and causes a connection or a disconnection between two terminals. The switches are designed to be actuated by pressing down on one side or the other, most often controlled by a rocker. WR11AS type of rocker switches are low-profile push button switches designed to take up less panel space while offering good tactile feedback. The WR11AS switches operates on the principle of a forced momentary action spring biased to the off (“up”) position. A WR11AS rocker switch typically consists of a hardened steel contacts with enclosed plugs, a molded housing containing the internal components, a plunger damper, dust door and a one-piece painted cover providing protection for the operator. It is IP67 rated and approved in UL1054, CSA C22.2 and EN60950-1.The rocker switch is available with two main designs; a mono-stabilised rocker switch and a illuminated rocker switch. The mono-stabilised rocker switch has two contacts with a single circuit while the illuminated rocker switch has a single contact with two circuits. Whether mono-stabilised or illuminated, WR11AS rocker switches can be used in a variety of applications requiring reliable switching performance. The WR11AS rocker switch operates on the principle of a forced momentary action Spring biased to the off (“up”) position. When pressure is applied to the rocker switch’s plunger, a metallic contact inside the switch is forced up against the normally open contact and this completes the circuit. When the pressure is released, the spring forces the contact to return to the open position, breaking the circuit and deactivating the switch. This switching action then occurs again each time pressure is applied to the rocker switch.The WR11AS rocker switch can be used for a variety of circuit switching applications from basic on/off functions to more advanced uses such as pulse switching and lighting control, EMC and security systems, counting functions, safety and machinery control and computing systems.The WR11AS rocker switch offers excellent durability, reliability and long service life. It is a low-profile switch that requires minimal panel space due to its construction mounted on the surface of the panel. The switch also carries a IP67 rating making it dust and waterproof. As well as durability, the WR11AS has good tactile feedback that makes it easy to control and operate.Overall, the WR11AS rocker switch has a multitude of applications to suit different requirements and industries thanks to its range of design options and its high performace, durability and reliability.
