Proximity and occupancy sensors play an important role in taking safety and security measures as an input interface in buildings, hospitals, industries, etc. Different designs of these sensors are available according to the application field and working principles. WSPEM24VLWO-D-BK is one such variant of proximity and occupancy sensors.This model is used for identifying or detecting objects present in its proximity but it does not indicate distance precisely though it informs about the object’s presence in the relative position of the sensor. This is highly useful in automated door systems, safety and security devices in industries and can be used as a part of the automation system. It is a finished unit with minor assembling required with other components. This is a digital I/O output model with a high level output attainable at a set distance of the object.It is easy to install and understand. The configuration set up is also easy to make. It requires 12-24 V DC supply to work. The nominal range of the sensors is from 12 to 80 mm and the operating temperature ranges from -20 to 65°C. This is preferably used when not much accuracy is required in the detecting of the object like dust particles, human proximity, etc. It is considered a low-cost alternative for detecting presence of objects with adequate safety and security.The technology works on the principle of voltage induced to the sensing probe when it encounters the object in its range. A high-frequency oscillation is produced and passed through the sensing coil. The generated field is measured to understand the presence and motion of the objects near the sensor. This induced voltage will be more when a metallic object comes near it. Hence by using this induced voltage level difference between the object and the air gap, and the surrounding environment, the presence and movement of the object relative to the sensor is detected.

This technology makes use of the hall effect principle and the power supply is derived from the output of the sensor’s integrated circuitry. The output of the sensor generally remains switched ON, even after the object has gone out of its sensing range, due to the inductive power which will increase the level of the output if the object is nearer to the sensor. It is hence used in the short range requirements with the maximum working distance of 80 mm. In order to avoid false triggering of the alarm, the output is continuous even after the object has gone off from its sensing range. It can sense only metallic objects and is highly reliable for its usage in various situations.

It is a robust, rugged and reliable micropower system to detect and sense objects even in areas with unbearable housing conditions, rough vibrations and moderate EMC disturbances. The black body type enclosure of the product along with the shielding ensures that the sensor remains in a working condition for a long time. The product has dimension of 42mm X 24mm X 24mm and the mounting has to be done from the button side for maximum efficiency

WSPEM24VLWO-D-BK is an ideal solution for applications in varied fields such as industrial machinery applications, automation systems, medical equipment, vending machines, etc. It can easily detect the presence of objects in its sensing range and hence provides a low-cost option for implementing the security procedures and safety devices with the automation system.
