X12003 Application Field and Working Principle

The X12003 is a universal power conversion integrated circuit (IC). It is composed of one high-voltage circuit, two low-voltage circuits and two display drive circuits. This IC was firstly released to the market in 2005, and has since been widely used in a variety of power conversion and control applications.

Application Field

Due to its wide input voltage range, high output power, and wide temperature range, the X12003 has a wide range of applications, including constant voltage chargers, solar battery systems, DC-DC converters, DC-AC inverters, and so on.

High-Voltage Circuit

The high-voltage circuit consists of a logic voltage circuit, an enable circuit, a voltage sensing circuit, and a switching circuit. The logic voltage circuit is composed of three transistors and is used to generate the control signal necessary to control the switching circuit. The enable circuit is used to turn on the external P-channel power MOSFET and thus enable the X12003 IC. The voltage sensing circuit is used to detect the output voltage of the external P-channel power MOSFET, and the switching circuit is used to control the power MOSFET to perform on/off switching.

Low-Voltage Circuits

The two low-voltage circuits are composed of a logic voltage circuit and a control module. The logic voltage circuit can make appropriate output current control, over voltage protection, etc., and make the output voltage steady and reliable. The control module can adjust the output voltage and current, and can detect the temperature and output current of the power MOSFET, and thus ensure the normal operation of the X12003.

Display Drive Circuits

The two display drive circuits are composed of a light emitting diode (LED) and a driving circuit. The LED is used to indicate the operating status of the X12003, and the driving circuit is used to control the brightness of the LED.
