If the voltage level at the input falls above or below the selectable thresholds, the device switches to reset mode and the output pin is held low. The X40020S14-C also provides for control of power-on-reset (POR) and power-down-reset (PDR) functions. The POR signal is used to detect when power is applied to the device and triggers a reset signal that can be used to activate countermeasures such as waiting for an operating signal before powering up the system or entering a safe mode. The PDR signal is used to detect when power is removed from the device and triggers a separate reset signal that can be used to ensure clean shutdown procedures are followed.
