Working principle

The X40414S8I-AT1 supervisor continuously monitors the main battery voltage and an adjustable external resistor divider connected to it. When the voltage falls outside the specified range, the supervisor resets the system and assert an output signal to indicate the status. In system configurations with multiple batteries, reset thresholds and monitoring time-outs can be independently set for each battery, thus providing further flexibility.

The X40414S8I-AT1 also incorporates a low power cell balancing function. The device continuously compares the voltages of all connected batteries and when one battery voltage is higher than its peers, the supervisor drives the connected balancing MosFETs to divert current away from the highest cell, thus equalizing their voltages and maintaining battery health.
