X4325S8-2.7A Application Field and Working Principle
Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) systems provide smart power management solutions with features such as over-voltage and over-current protection, low dropout regulators, active clocking and sequencing control, as well as multi-source, multiple-output (MSMO) voltage regulation. The X4325S8-2.7A is a comprehensive re-set system based on microcontroller digital input and provides extensive combination of capabilities to protect system from instability, maintain steady-state performance, and timely alert of fault status.
1. Application Field
The X4325S8-2.7A is a high performance low voltage supervisor IC with adjustable threshold voltage, integrated power-on reset circuit, and voltage monitor module. It is suitable for a wide variety of applications, such as Power Supplies, Microcontrollers, and Embedded Systems, where power integrity is critical. This supervisor can provide four distinct reset functions: Watchdog timer reset, manual reset, VDD over voltage reset and VDD under voltage reset. It is an ideal solution for recovering the system from unexpected power supply issues and stabilizing the system from external disturbances.
2. Working Principle
The X4325S8-2.7A uses microcontroller digital technology to monitor the power supply voltage. The integrated comparator is configured to compare the voltage against the pre-defined voltage threshold which can be adjusted with an external resistor. When the voltage reaches or drops lower than the pre-defined threshold, the reset signal is generated which stops system operation and leads the system to power down. The reset signal can be used as an output to trigger other actions or can be used to reset the system to the initial state.
The X4325S8-2.7A also contains a watchdog timer function which requires periodic restarts. The watchdog timer is 16 bits wide and is user-programable to generate the reset signal when necessary. The WDT counter can be reloaded with a user-programmable value for the period of operation.
An operational mode input signal is also available in X4325S8-2.7A to put the unit into either a monitor or quad reset mode.
