Application Field

The X5001PI-4.5A is designed for powering and monitoring battery-based or ac-powered embedded systems. Working Principle

The X5001PI-4.5A integrates 1 × DC-DC buck converter, 3 × DC-DC buck converters with adjustable output voltage, 1 × DC-DC buck-boost, 4 × LDOs, 2 × seatbuck converters, and 4 × linear regulators. All these controllers are supported with advanced control and monitoring features, including soft start, Rise & Fall Ramp, constant frequency ratio, output voltage tracking, and power-good monitoring. The device also has two I2C buses and multiple GPIOs, which can be used to control power on/off, monitor the output and system status, and to monitor battery health.

The device also contains two Supervisor functions, namely the Power-on Reset (POR) function and the System Supervisor function. The Power-on Reset is triggered when the system input voltage crosses a predetermined threshold, and then the reset signal is sent to system microcontroller and other devices. The System Supervisor monitors the voltage of DC power rails, or the external battery voltage, and generates a reset signal when the voltage level exceeded or under a predetermined level.

The X5001PI-4.5A is capable of controlling different voltage rails in order to meet system requirement. It also provides a rich set of features such as power sequencing, enabling power rails at different sequenced levels, power-good detection and monitoring, and multi-protocol interfaces. All the features provide system designers with the flexibility to optimize design and reduce time cost.
