Xilinx Virtex II V1000-5FG256C is an advanced Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) containing embedded processor cores, digital signal processing (DSP) blocks, multi-gigabit transceivers, and sophisticated I/O interfaces. It\'s designed to become the workhorse of modern embedded systems, providing the speed and flexibility for the most demanding mission critical applications.

Whereas FPGA technology has traditionally been used for communication structured applications, the integration of new components such as embedded processors and DSPs facilitate the use of FPGAs for comprehensive real-time control. Xilinx Virtex II V1000-5FG256C, with its embedded processor cores, DSP blocks, and extensive I/O capabilities, provides an ideal solution for a range of applications including embedded systems, military, aerospace, medical, industrial control, intelligent home appliances, robotics, automotive, and security.

The Xilinx Virtex II V1000-5FG256C includes five rows of digital signal processing (DSP) slices and up to 256 blocks of dual port internal RAM. It is built using a 0.13 & micro;m, five-metal-layer process, allowing a high level of packing density and integration of multiple high-speed signal processing and embedded functions. This, combined with the Xilinx Virtex II Pro Library of parameterizable embedded processor cores, allows customers to quickly select components and quickly configure their own system architecture.

Xilinx Virtex II V1000-5FG256C also provides up to five million-gate capacity, enabling the integration of complex applications such as wireless communications systems and signal processing that historically require multiple chip implementations. It also enables increased flexibility, configurability, and scalability for existing applications.

Xilinx Virtex II V1000-5FG256C offers two power supply options of 3.3V and 2.5V, providing flexibility to customers doing low power designs. It also provides a wide range of clock frequencies. With up to overclocking capability, FPGA usage is for a wider range of applications and customer requirements.
