Working Principle

The XC6121F749ER-G main IC combines overcurrent and overvoltage protection, together with a photodiode which can detect the output voltage differential between the Enable VCC pin and the output voltage. When the output voltage is low, the Enable VCC pin will pull low and trigger the fault protection. This will cause the internal MOSFETs to open causing the output voltage to stay at a safe level. It can also provide under-voltage protection triggering to disconnect the load when there is an over-voltage fault.

The XC6121F749ER-G is designed with a low drop-out regulator and built-in current limiting functions to protect the load from over-current faults. Additionally, the PMIC-Supervisors boasts of a circuit breaker that can open the circuit if an overload is detected.

The XC6121F749ER-G also features thermal shutdown circuitry that provides a safe operation for the system by automatically setting the output to a high impedance state when the junction temperature reaches 150°C.
