It includes a built-in LDO and power-on reset (POR) circuit to re-energize the power supply in the event of a brown-out or load dump. The internal power on reset circuit performs a hard reset to ensure that the system is running in a defined state when powered-on.The primary purpose of the XC6124D720ER-G is to monitor system voltages and provide warning status signals when the monitored voltage levels are above or below their predetermined levels. It offers an adjustable undervoltage (UV) and overvoltage (OV) thresholds by means of external resistors. This can be used to detect low battery voltage conditions in portable systems, high voltage transients in automotive systems, and to monitor secondary side power supplies in distributed power systems.The supervisor can also be used to monitor the voltage on an external battery in order to detect a disconnect, adds additional protection against false power on of the system, and provides power-on reset (POR) to an external system. The supervisor can issue a warning to the system when it detects the voltage levels are outside the pre-programmed range.The XC6124D720ER-G is equipped with an integrated watchdog timer (WDT) which can be used to prevent lockups or software malfunctions from causing the system to stop operating. The WDT has a programmable timeout which can be adjusted between 1 and 20 seconds. The watchdog timer can also be used in combination with the POR circuit to trigger a reset and restart the system in the event of a system hang-up or malfunction. Finally, the supervisor is capable of issuing a reset pulse compliant with the CONSOLE signaling requirements for a wide range of systems.The XC6124D720ER-G operates over a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to 85°C).
