Working Principle of XC9303B093KR-G

The XC9303B093KR-G is a DC-DC step-down synchronous power switch with a high efficiency MOSFET and integrated controller. It operates on a constant frequency pulse width modulation principle. The power switch of XC9303B093KR-G consists of three major components, namely the controller, inductor, and MOSFET. The operation begins by a start signal from the controller to turn the MOSFET ON. There is a high-side current sense resistor to sense the current from the Vout node to the ground. The controller then compares the voltage at the inductor to a reference voltage, which is usually a 0.6V reference voltage. The reference voltage determines the duty cycle and thus the output voltage. The duty cycle is basically determined as the ratio between the voltage in inductor and the reference voltage.
