Working Principle of XIO2221ZAY

The XIO2221ZAY works by providing a bridge between two types of communication networks. The first is an Ethernet-based communication network and the second is a serial-based communication network. The XIO2221ZAY ports are connected to each other by a system of four communication lines. On one side of the bridge, the four lines are connected to four nodes on the Ethernet network. On the other side of the bridge, the four lines are connected to four nodes on the serial network. Each node on the Ethernet network has access to all of the data on the serial network. Conversely, each node on the serial network has access to all of the data on the Ethernet network.

The XIO2221ZAY supports several serial communication protocols, including RS-232, RS-422/485, and Modbus. RS-232 is the most common communications protocol for connecting point-to-point devices, and it supports speeds up to 3 Mbps. RS-422/485 is a multi-point protocol that permits connections between multiple devices and supports data rates up to 500 kbps.
