ZTL431ASE5TA is a voltage reference manufactured by Texas Instruments and is part of the PMIC - Voltage Reference family. This particular device is characterized by a low temperature coefficient and a 0.005% reference voltage accuracy over line, load and time. In addition, it offers a precision output voltage of 4.31V, with a 5mA load current that can be scaled up if needed. The ZTL431ASE5TA voltage reference device is composed of an integrated monolithic output voltage regulator with a bandgap reference core, two bipolar transistors (NPN and PNP) and two resistors connected in an adjustable configuration. The NPN transistor is connected from the signal ground to the base of the PNP transistor, with the base of the NPN transistor connected to the signal ground via a variable resistor. The collector of the NPN transistor is connected to the collector of the PNP transistor and to the reference voltage output. The reference voltage output can be calculated by the following equation:
VREF= VBE + IB * R
Where VBE is the voltage between the base and emitter of the NPN transistor, IB is the base current of the NPN transistor and R is the adjustable resistor. The voltage reference device is designed so that the output voltage is independent from the input voltage and is therefore not affected by changes in the power supply or load current.
