H11AA4300 Application Field And Working PrincipleOptoisolators, also known as optocouplers or photocouplers, are components that are used to electrically isolate electrical inputs from outputs by using an optical signal to transfer information. Optoisolators exist in a variety of configurations including transistor, photovoltaic, and thyristor output types, each using different principles to accomplish electrical isolation. The H11AA4300 optocoupler by AVAGO Technologies is a prefired optoisolator of transistor output type, and utilizes a phototransistor to transfer information from an input to an output side. Applications of H11AA4300The H11AA4300 optocoupler is frequently used in communication networks between integrated circuits and units, allowing signals to be transmitted between electrical/logic systems with complete electrical isolation. Typically, the input side of H11AA4300 is used to control an electronic switch circuit connected to the output side. The main area of application is in AC and DC motor control applications such as relays, SCR gate control, power-inverters, and servo control. Because of its compact size, H11AA4300 can also be used in crowded systems such as LCD backlight controllers, battery chargers, or remote-sensing measurements. Note this particular optocoupler should not be used in applications where high speed communication is essential, as its minimum isolation speed is 40kHz. Working Principle of H11AA4300The H11AA4300 optoisolator consists of two separate stages that electrically isolate the input and output sides of the circuit. On the input side, the optoisolator has an infrared LED that is controlled by an external circuit. On the output side, it has a silicon NPN transistor that is controlled by the LED through an optical signal. When the input side of the optoisolator receives an electrical signal, the LED emits an infrared light beam. This light beam is then received by the phototransistor, which responds by turning the transistor on and off based on the amount of light it receives.
